Gota Miura

Gota is the youngest son of Yuichiro Miura (“The Man Who Skied Down Everest”), his father’s passion for adventure provided him the unique opportunity to climb Monte Rose and Mt. Kilimanjaro at age 11 and Mt. Elbrus(Russia) at age 16.

He started his skiing career as a mogul skier in 1991 and participated in the 1994 Lillehammer Olympic Games(27th)  and the 1998 Nagano Olympic Games(13th). He has continued to be actively involved in World Cup Freestyle skiing, as well as an Olympic Games commentator and skiing journalist.

He graduated from the University of Utah in May 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Physiology, in that same year he became a business partner in “MIURA DOLPHINS – the family company.

He was a key support for his father to climb Mt. Everest at age of 70, 75 and again at 80 (current world record of the oldest person to climb Mt. Everest) and Gota has successfully scaled the summit of Everest twice.

He has studied and conducted extensive research in Hyper and Hypoxia training at the MIURA DOLPHINS’s Hypoxic chamber in Tokyo. His thesis “Heme Oxygenase-1 is Constitutively Up-Regulated in Top Alpinist”  earned him a doctoral degree.

He has a Ph.D. in Medicine, Board member of Trustee of Anti Aging Leader Development Organisation, Chief Director of Nastar Race Association, Adviser of United Nations WFP and Associate Professor of Keio University (Political Measure and Media).
